Dance Competition

Dany has been dancing ever since she was 3 years old. At first she was only in ballet, she didn't make the choice herself, but she loved it. When she was 6 years old she would always listen to her classmates talking about her jazz class that was just after their ballet one; so she asked her mom if she could attend to that class as well, and she did. Then at the age of 12, Dany decided to give hip hop a try; and she liked it as well.
Dany has been dancing since 2003, but had her first dance competition at the age of 15, last April 2015. She and her classmates had all been preparing for months, and the day had finally arrived. She hadn't been allowed to go with the others on the bus, so she took a plane with a dance teacher to Dallas, Texas. She got to the hotel and that night the solos competition took place, she just watched the performances and the next day she had dance classes in the morning and her competition in the afternoon.  The performances began and she started getting extremely nervous, she performed her group jazz number and as she was dancing the nerves disappeared, but when she got down of the stage and had to change for her hip hop performance, they reappeared.
One of the hip hop groups that they were going against, performed right before them. So, Dany was able to watch from the side of the stage; the dance wasn't good, they had a cupcake as a prop and the song was a birthday song. This made her feel a little more confident and relax. They performed and she thought they did a pretty good job, since they had all given their best and she was able to see the judges' face expressions. After her performance she watched the other two groups she was competing against, and with both of them she thought they didn't have a chance anymore. The groups were very well coordinated and their choreographies were very good...
The awards began, and all of the dancers were asked to sit on the stage floor around the host. He started with the junior category (the youngest dancers), then with the teen and at last the senior category, which was the one Dany was competing in. They gave out the jazz awards and Dany couldn't believe that they had won first place, since in the rehearsals it hadn't looked very good. Then the hip hop awards of her category begun. The third place was announced, it was one of the dances that had been good; and Dany thought, maybe we won't get any price, since there were 4 dances. Then the second place was announced, the cupcake dance and they were all like REALLY?! That dance had been bad, and Dany started getting disappointed because only the first place price was left and she though there was only a tiny chance of them getting it. When she listened to the name of her dance being announced a big smile appeared on her face; and when the Senior Best Showmanship award was also given to them, that smile grew even bigger. It is incredibly satisfying winning, when you put a lot of effort and spent a lot of time preparing.
