The motorcycle

When I was about 10 years old, I was invited to go to my uncle's ranch. There was a reunion of my father's side family, and I had already been to one before; and I liked my cousins but it was a bit boring. I wanted to have a good time at the ranch, so I had the idea of inviting a friend to come.

"Mom, can I invite Marisofi to come with us to the ranch?" I asked. "Sure," she answered "you can bring Marisofi and your sister can bring a friend too".

We got to the ranch, and there were lots of things to entertain ourselves; there was a pool table, a trampoline, and other things, but we wanted to ride the four-wheeler motorcycle. My mom didn't like the idea of us going on it, since she considers motorcycles very dangerous. We still went though and waited for our turn to use them, I think my mom didn't even realize we had gone to ride them until a lot of time after.

The motorcycle was for two people, and since we were all small, the four of us could fit in it. We all took turns on driving it around the part of the ranch where all my family was. Then a weird competition started happening, we never actually said like, "Guys, let's see who can drive the fastest," but all I know is that every one of us tried to beat the last one's fastest speed. I didn't drive very fast, since I was a bit scared. But my sister's friend's turn came, and if I remember right, I saw the speedometer marking 81 km/h, then the fence in front of us, and after that, it all went dark... I don't know if I passed out or had a shock or something like that. All I can remember is me being on top of the bent fence, on the floor and my sister yelling, "Dany! Dany!" I stood up, and saw my sister's friend bleeding from her chin. We walked back to the place were everyone was waiting for us, since they had heard the crash and were very worried; some cousins had gone looking for us and came back with the four-wheeler. I only had some scratches in my face and shoulder; but my sister fractured her neck and my sister's friend had to get stitches, which I'm sure she must still have a scar for. I'm sure none of us, will ever have a competition as silly and dangerous as that again.
